Andy Burnett DVM

asb.jpg (15194 bytes)                Dr. Andy Burnett was born in Seattle, Washington on September 28, 1941.  He spent most of his childhood years in California where his interest in animals began.  Much of his time was spent on his Grandfather’s ranch in Central California.  His uncle was a well-known horse trainer at the time, and young Andy loved to follow him around the ranch.  His fascination with the visiting veterinarian and the treatments he performed on their animals made a lasting impression on him.
His family moved to Reno in 1957, and Dr. Burnett graduated from Reno High School in 1959.  He then attended Cal Poly at San Luis Obispo, California on a football scholarship.  Injuries to his knee forced him to leave football and Cal Poly and return home to Reno.  After attending the University of Nevada in Reno, he attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado.  He received his degree in veterinary medicine in 1967.
Dr. Burnett met his wife, Judy (Quanchi) at UNR, and they were married in 1965.  Judy was born in Reno, lived in Sparks and graduated from Sparks High School in 1960.  She graduated from UNR in 1964 with a degree in elementary education.  They have two sons, A.G. and Scott.  A.G. is now a Deputy Attorney General in gaming for the State of Nevada.  He is married to the former Anna Nichols of Sparks, and they have one son, Cobi and a daughter, Emily.  Scott is a Physician Assistant with special interest in  vascular surgery. Scott and his wife Melissa have a son and live in Boise, Idaho. Dr. Burnett spent many years involved in Sparks’ youth activities and has served as a director and past president of Sparks Babe Ruth.  He was one of the original organizers of the Sparks YMCA having served as director of both the Sparks YMCA and the Reno YMCA.
Upon their return to Sparks in 1967, Dr. Burnett became associated with Dr. Gerry Meyer.  Together they owned and operated a small animal hospital on Rock Blvd.  They later developed Sun Valley Animal Hospital and acquired Sierra View Animal Hospital on South Virginia Street in Reno.  In December of 1980, Dr. Burnett left his association with Dr. Meyer and founded Baring Blvd. Veterinary Hospital.  His single doctor practice has now grown into a full-service, multi-doctor veterinary hospital able to offerLittle Andy unique specialty care to pets and their owners.
In 1993 Dr. Burnett and Dr. Ronald Sandoval owned and operated the Petsmart Veterinary Clinics in Reno and Las Vegas. In November of 1998, Petsmart Inc. acquired Drs. Burnett and Sandoval’s interest in the Petsmart clinics.
Baring Blvd. Veterinary was recognized in 1997 by Veterinary Economics Magazine as a “Practice of Excellence”.  This national award is given once a month to one veterinary hospital in the United States.  The award acknowledges and recognizes those hospitals in the country that offer exceptional patient and client care.
Dr. Burnett has been very involved in community affairs and organized veterinary medicine.  He was president of the Nevada State Veterinary Association, a member of the Nevada State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners for ten years and served as president.  He is now a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association and the American Animal Hospital Association.  The American Animal Hospital Association has chosen Dr. Burnett to serve on their “Council of 100,” a group of veterinarians from different parts of the United States chosen to serve as advisors on national veterinary issues. He currently serves as Nevada’s representative on the Management Committee of the Wild West Veterinary Conference held in Reno each year. This conference is attended by 2000 veterinarians and veterinary technicians.
Dr. Burnett is a former member of Sparks Sertoma Club and a past director of the Sparks Chamber of Commerce.  He is a past president and director of the Nevada Wildlife Federation, the Nevada Organization for Wildlife and served as the wildlife representative for the Susanville District of the Bureau of Land Management.  Dr. Burnett was one of the organizing members of the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Reno and served as president.  His special interests have been in the care of the canine athlete concentrating on orthopedics, reproduction and nutrition.
Dr. Burnett is “semi-retired” and no longer sees patients but continues to be a managing partner at BBVH. When Dr. Burnett is not at BBVH, he can be found at the gym working out, exercising his Pointers in the hills above Sparks, cycling, off chukar hunting or fly-fishing, or just enjoying time spent with his family.

Her critters include (in order of appearance) cat Oliver (who survived the U-Haul trip from North Carolina to arrive in the blizzards of December 1992), Reno native Annie (cat), and our beloved Remy (“Remster”), our sweet specimen of a black lab, complete with congenital cataracts and hip dysplasia.  In her down time, she enjoys remote camping and fishing, and the occasional (very occasional now that she has Wyatt and Cooper) good book.

Jackie Pulver DVM

I was born in the small town of Shelbyville, TN where I grew up on a cattle farm. I had my first experience in veterinary medicine at a young age by being placed in charge of care of orphan calves and the horses on the farm (also the multiple barn cats and family dog!)  I graduated from Judson College in Marion Alabama with a degree in chemistry. I then returned to my home state to attend vet school at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. During my summers at school, I did externships at several veterinary hospitals in Tennessee and Alabama.  During my winter breaks, my husband Eric and I often traveled to Reno/Tahoe area to downhill ski. My husband and I decided to move to Reno after we completed our schooling. Eric joined the law firm of Ronald J. Logar and has enjoyed practicing family law.  I practiced equine and camelid medicine in the Reno/Carson area for three years.
I joined Baring Blvd in Oct. 2003 and have enjoyed practicing medicine and surgery on the smaller animals in the area since. During my off time, my husband and I enjoy hiking, biking, skiing, and spending time with all of our animals. We transplanted 2 horses (Imp and Looker) and 2 cats (Siren and Vesper) from TN. We acquired another child, Chloe, from a dog rescue unit in Reno shortly after we moved to Reno.

She traveled around Europe before coming back to the US to finish her BA degree at Cornell, with a major in English.
She moved to Reno to join her long time boyfriend (now husband) Gabriel, as he completed his MS degree in geology at UNR. After working at Mt. Rose for two years she left the ski area to work at the Animal Emergency Center in Reno. She completed her undergraduate pre-veterinary requirements at UNR while working full-time at nights and weekends. She was selected to attend Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences for her DVM

Ben Davidson DVM

I was born and grew up in San Diego.  I did my pre-vet coursework at UC Davis, getting a bachelor’s degree in avian sciences.  I loved the school and the area so much, I decided to stay there for veterinary school.  During my schooling, I worked in an avian immunology laboratory, developing vaccines and studying clinical progression of many poultry and pet bird viruses and also in the Poultry production industry.  I developed an interest in avian medicine, but in the end decided that cats and dogs were more fun, so I came back to small animal medicine.  After graduation I completed an internship in Small Animal medicine/surgery/neurology and critical care in Pullman, Washington at the Washington State University Teaching Hospital.  I moved down to the area in July of 2006 and can’t imagine ever leaving.

I love the outdoors, especially skiing, hiking, and golfing, anywhere, anytime.  I enjoy most of it with Phil, my Australian shepherd and the best friend I could ever hope for.  My professional interests include emergency medicine/critical care and internal medicine, especially cardiology and endocrinology.
