Oliver, a West
Highland White Terrier, was diagnosed as a puppy with Westie seborrhea, a
severe dermatological disorder. This incurable skin disease caused terrible
hot spots, with itching that resulted in him chewing sores in his skin and
tearing out his hair which left him bald. We had been treating Oliver with
"Western" medicine such as steroids and antibiotics for almost a
year. However, after that year, when there were no visible signs of
improvement, Dr. Burnett referred us to Dr. David Lowell, a veterinary
acupuncturist and chiropractic. Oliver's symptoms under "Eastern"
medicine were described as a blood deficiency. Oliver's blood flow was not
sufficient enough to get to the skin, thus his disease.
It took over a year, but
through regular acupuncture treatments, Chinese herbs and a home cooked diet,
we had remarkable results. As the second photo shows, Oliver now looks like a
Westie is supposed to too. Oliver's energy is good and we can tell he feels
great, thanks to Dr. Lowell
