Sundance Melzer

Sundance as a young dog

Sunny in 1990
Sundance is a 15 year old yellow lab owned by Ursula Melzer. In November of 1998, a small oral mass was removed during a dental procedure and submitted for histopathology. It was determined to be a malignant melanoma, one of the most aggressive tumors found in dogs. Most dogs do not survive more than 3 months.16 months later, Sundance is still doing fine. He had one previous surgery to remove a portion of the tumor, and we performed the procedure again 3/1/00. He is still eating fine, tail always wagging, and feeling great. Mrs. Melzer combines many homeopathic remedies, melatonin and the chemotherapeutic drug feldene to give Sunny good quality of life inspite of a nasty oral tumor.

A note: Sundance succumbed to metastasis of the tumor 5/1/00. Our heart goes out to Mrs. Melzer.
